Week 28 of the GN Bank Division One League ended joyously for Zone three side, Dreams FC, as they joined Zone two side, Karela FC, as the second team to book their ticket for top-flight soccer in the land come next season. In Zone one, the battle remains far from over with W. NEA Salamina and Techiman City set to slug it out to the very hand.
Zone one league leading title hopeful side - W. NEA Salamina – kept hope alive for a possible first appearance in the nation’s top-flight soccer division with a stunning 3-1 road win over RTU who hitherto had played excellently well at home and were undefeated there. The win, the first, for Salamina away from home this second half upped their tally to 57points for the top spot and a 3point advantage. Not to be outdone in the chase, second placed Techiman City boosted their chances for a quick return to the Premier League with a huge 4-1 decimation of visiting Mpuasuman, bearing in mind that the goals may likely count as they slug it out with Salamina to see who makes it out of the zone eventually. The victory for the top two teams in the Zone sets a tall order for the championship aspirations of third placed B. A. United whose result was not available at the time of this post but needed Salamina and TCFC to lose in order to have a chance.
With the relegation battle to see who joins relegation bound Dark Horses into the abyss of Division Two at center stage, Tamale Utrecht picked up the role of likely candidates following a 3-0 whopping at the hands of Dreams FC that left them 5points adrift of safety. Berekum Arsenal won by a lone goal at home to boost their chances of survival, and relegation bound Dark Horses continued on their merry way out of the DOL with a 1-2 home loss to Eleven Wonders who vaulted back into the top-four ranks after recent FA Disciplinary Committee decisions that saw them lose 6points.
