The former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kuffuor, popularly known as Obour in the music industry has openly professed his long affection for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The "konkontiba"crooner in an interview with Godfred Akoto Boafo on Citi TV's Face To Face show noted that he has always coveted the NPP but he has just not been an active supporter.

According to him, as a MUSIGA president, one is barred from dabbling in politics, but his allegiance to the NPP was known by the party, else they would not have passed him to contest the vetting process.

He added that the party knows of his contribution in helping shape affairs at the constituency and national levels.

He said he grew up in the NPP because his father was once an Assembly Member and an NPP government appointee.

He said the ideology of a free market, which is a belief of the NPP, attracted him because he also believes in it.

This, he said, will make it easier for him to be with the NPP than to join any other political party because he would not adopt new things.

When queried on the timing of his decision to contest for the seat of his constituency, he explained that he has completed a successful MUSIGA term and has also put his musical career on hold for a while, and that the only thing left for him to do is charity work and become a Member of Parliament.

He asserted that being a Member of Parliament is about changing lives and it is the same thing he is doing, so if he can do his work much better by being a Member of Parliament and make a bigger impact, there is no need to wait and that people in his constituency are looking up to him.

He maintained that if he does win, he will serve his constituents better than his small Non-governmental Organization (NGO) which he says people will raise red flags when funds are being raised to know whether the funds will be used for the intended purpose.

He believes that as a Member of Parliament, one is helping the government to achieve its goals and it is easier to draw and pull resources to help the constituents.

Mr. Bice Osei Kuffuor is a parliamentary hopeful contesting to win the NPP primary in the Asante Akyem South Constituency to represent the NPP in the 2020 elections.
